With the International GT season finale at Circuit of the Americas just two weeks away, STEVEN HILL in his F458 Challenge car, Norwood Auto Italia prepared Ferrari has already clinched the Maranello Cup Championship for the 2017 season. This marks a repeat of the Championship for HILL, who also won the 2016 Maranello Cup Championship.

HILL dominated most of the first half of the International GT season taking overall wins in 6 of the 7 Sprint races at the Sebring, Amelia Island and Road America rounds, however increasing pressure from the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy category saw THOMAS PANK split the overall wins with HILL at Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen and VIR.

“I am so happy that my Ford’s Gin/Norwood Auto Italia (NAI) team again won the International GT Maranello Cup Championship in 2017! We enjoyed close on-track battles all year and were privileged to compete with such a great group of drivers. Thomas Pank and Mark Sandridge always gave good reason to clean our windscreen and mirrors before each race! Colin Cohen and Barry Fromberg were fantastic teammates – running with them always made the racing more fun and pushed the whole team to perform better. And without Chris Coffey and the NAI team, none of the wins would have happened. The smart and innovative technical problem solving, along with often long hours and occasional sleepless nights, kept the championship possible. I want to thank all for this honor and appreciate BRM Chronographs, Pacifico, Mission Foods, Pirelli and RacerInk for supporting such a great series,” said 2017 Champion, Hill.

With HILL holding the lead in the 2017 Maranello Cup Championship, the focus moves to the second and third Championship positions which have seen a tight battle all season between BARRY FROMBERG and COLIN COHEN. FROMBERG currently holds the second position in the Championship, however with less then a 25 point gap and up to 77 points available at Circuit of the Americas, COHEN is well within reach of second place.
