2022 International GT Champions Crowned

IGT

2022 was a record breaking year for International GT with full fields all season and half the races sold out weeks prior to the event. As has been the case for the past 5 years the Mission Foods GT3 Cup championship came down to the wire and was settled in the final enduro race of the year at Daytona this past weekend!

We’d like to thank all the competitors, crews and race shops who have been part of the series this past season and throughout the years. As we embark on our 10th season in 2023, we are especially thankful to PIRELLI TIRES and MISSION FOODS who have been with the series from the start! We’d also like to thank, Fikse WheelsSpeedcom CommunicationsSunocoInterlaken InnSurface Transforms and The Race Tailor.

Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy Lukas Pank

IGT

LUKAS PANK #40 raced in our largest and most competitive category, Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy 3.8 liter. With the big fields, just finishing on the podium was a constant challenge and Lukas was a regular in victory circle. The 24-year old recent engineering graduate from Virginia Tech, steadily finished in the top three clinching the championship at the final race in Daytona.

IGT

TOM PANK #42 Ultra Performance, father to Lukas,(who also preps Lukas’s car) takes second in the championship. The 2019 Champion, Tom is often in contention for the overall win, but it was Lukas’s consistency that proved championship worthy this year.

IGT

Third in the championship goes to STEPHEN HAMMAN #72, TLM Racing. The 23-year old student has spent the year flying in late after classes, often missing qualifying and starting in the rear of the grid, and making his way to the front. 2022 was Stephen’s first full season in IGT and along with balancing chiropractic school, taking third in the championship is quite an achievement.

The competition in the Mission Foods GT3 Cup category was unmatched in 2022 with is evident in only 4.5 points separating first from third!

Stuttgart Cup
Joe Rizzo

IGT

JOE RIZZO #12, RS1 took the 2022 Stuttgart Cup championship title. Although the series has seen great growth this season, certainly much of that has been in the Stuttgart Cup category for Caymans. Rizzo took over the championship lead in the second half of the season with consistent top three finishes and enduro wins with co-driver SPENCER PUMPELLY.

IGT

Series rookie MARIA MEJIA #11, Quirt Racing had a terrific season taking second in the championship. Maria took to racing with a vengeance, learning from co-driver ZAC ANDERSON. Maria also brought great enthusiasm and excitement to the podium ceremonies which everyone enjoyed!

IGT

Third in the championship goes to TOM BIGONY #174, Rizzo’s teammate at RS1. Along with the third member of the RS1 team, TOM KOPCZYNSKI #520, the group has led the charge in the Cayman category.

Maranello Cup
Juan Fayen

IGT

Consistency was the name of the game in Maranello Cup in 2022. JUAN FAYEN #17, FMS Motorsports was dominate in his F488 GT3 Ferrari throughout the season.

IGT

Second in the championship goes to ROLAND VEIT #16, Pocono Sportscar, who was able to do more races this year than in the past, capturing second place.

IGT

JOHN PATRICK MULLANY #36 finished third in the Maranello Cup category. Pat’s Ferrari is prepped and supported trackside by Speed Works in Florida.
