We’ve become accustomed to seeing current Mission Foods GT3 Cup Champion, John Mauro on the International GT podiums. However, at Road America, the champ was joined on the endurance race podium by (left to right) Thomas Pank in his second International GT race and newcomers, Lukas Pank, Patrick Gallagher (Mauro’s co-driver for the race win), Bob Wisen and Ed Baus. In the two sprint races Ed Baus was the winner of both while Bob Wisen was runner up in one sprint and John Mauro placed second in the other.
The International GT racers were hit with a downpour on Saturday, giving them an added challenge on the beautiful 4 mile, 14 turn Road America circuit.
Steve Hill swept the Maranello Cup category racing in his Ferrari 458 (#33). While Barry Fromberg (#43) was runner up in each race on the weekend and Colin Cohen rounded out the podium.
In the Mission Foods GT3 Cup 3.8 division, Jeffrey Freeman, in his #161 Hertz machine won the first sprint race, while Thomas Pank won the second sprint race. Thomas would team up with his son Lukas (in Lukas’s #3 car) for the endurance race to take a second place finish.
