A Record Field at VIR

Returning to beautiful VIRginia International Raceway in the Fall is always something to look forward to, and this year International GT hosted our biggest field ever at the track dubbed America’s Motorsport Resort.
Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy

In Mission Foods GT3 Cup all three races on the weekend were a mix of winners overall and in class. Overall race wins went to DAVID TUATY #68 (GT4.I, TLM Racing), TOM PANK #42 (GT4.R, Ultra Performance) and MARKMATHYS who shared (and won) the enduro with MIKE SKEEN #77. Other class wins went to REG WILLIAMS #008 (GT4.R, Goldcrest) and STEPHEN HAMMAN #72 (GT4.Im TLM Racing).

In the 4 liter category four cars shared the podium in all three races with wins going to STEVE DUNN #11, FRANK VITIELLO #10 (SpeedSport) and NICHOLAS GROOMBRIDGE #124 (SpeedSport). While not winning a race, two podiums moved MARCEL FAYEN #03 (FMS Motorsport) closer to the top in the championship points battle, now just 1.5 points behind current leader Mark Mathys.

The 3.8 liter category saw a variety of faces on the podium with wins going to JIMMY ADAMS #343 (Goldcrest) in sprint race 1 while sprint 2 and the enduro wins went to LUKAS PANK#40 (Ultra Performance). Also on the podium in GT3.8 were BRADY BEHRMAN #428 (HardPoint Racing), DANIEL HERRINGTON #20 who shared the enduro with dad DAVID HERRINGTON and JODY MILLER#3 (TLM Racing).
Stuttgart Cup, Maranello Cup and Exhibition

Stuttgart Cup saw three category winners in the three classes. CHRIS RUPPEL #09 (Zotz Racing) swept the 4 liter class and FLORIAN EYME#119 (3.8 class winner in both sprint races) from VIR based Kaizen Autosport joined IGT for the first time. MIKE WARD #711 (3.8 liter) also stood on the top step of the podium. There were several newcomers to International GT at VIR thanks to Autometrics out of South Carolina, including podium finishers CHARLES LEW #079 (3.8 liter), LARRY WEXLER #28 (3.4 liter) and TOPHER EVERETT #133 (3.4 liter).
JUAN FAYEN #17 (Ferrari 488, FMS Motorsport) swept the Maranello Cup category and extended his lead in the championship.

The Exhibition category had two Maseratis, one Audi R8 LMS and one VW TCR, all of whom stood on the podium throughout the weekend! Norwood Auto Italia brought Maseratis with COLIN COHEN #38 and CHRIS COFFEY#97. While newcomer JAY MAZZONE #75 (JEM Racing) entered his Audi and the enduro was won by CAMERON MCINTYRE #8 in his VW. Cameron, one of our long time members of the Ohio Players, has relocated to the Raleigh area and has now adopted VIR as his home track.
