Riddell Wins Second Straight Ahead of Jim Gray and Keith Faver; Paul Reisman’s Boxster Second in Stuttgart Cup; Jack Baldwin Top-10 Overall

SAVANNAH, Ga. (October 27, 2013)Bill Riddell doubled down in the Cayman class of the Stuttgart Cup™ Winter Series Sunday morning at the Historic SportsCar Racing (HSR) Savannah Speed Classic where he won his second consecutive race of the weekend in the RaceWatches.com Classic GT Enduro.

stuttgart cup caymanRiddell led every lap of the one-hour race in his No. 05 Cayman S, which carries a flat-black Porsche 918 Spyder paint scheme, while placing 13th overall in the 29-car field. On Saturday, Riddell also won the weekend’s opening RaceLink feature race with the weekend’s second and final eight-lap RaceLink sprint set for later today.

“I was able to race the whole race, normally with somebody around me,” Riddell said. “We had our other Stuttgart Cup guys but also a lot of 2.5 and 3 liter Porsches, 914s and the like, and some quick sports racers. It was just a lot of fun battling with everybody. We’re 3,000 pounds and a street car kind of made into a racer, that sort of equals it all out, but everybody was courteous and we had a lot of folks to race with. It was absolutely a ball and what a great place to race.”

Second place in the Cayman class went to Jim Gray in the No. 80 green and white striped Cayman S modeled after a David Piper Racing Porsche 917.

Paul Reisman was with me all day in the Boxster,” Gray said. “We duked it out for the entire race and just had a lot of fun. He was my main competitor and the person I kind of jigged and jagged with. We had a great time, a good laugh at the end, and we both really enjoyed the experience.”

Reisman, the lone Boxster competitor this weekend, more than held his own with a second-place overall Stuttgart Cup finish. He trailed only Riddell and brought his dark blue No. 70 Boxster across the finish line an impressive 19th overall. He joined Riddell, Gray and third-place Cayman finisher Keith Faver, who drives the No. 25 car themed after the legendary blue and orange Gulf Porsche 917s, on the victory podium.

Professional driver and three-time road racing champion Jack Baldwin drove the No. 14 Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing Porsche 962 themed Cayman S in the enduro and had another great battle with Saturday RaceLink sprint winner Cody Ellsworth and his 1973 Porsche 911 RSR. Baldwin was moved up to the GT class for the enduro and trailed class winner Ellsworth across the line by just a couple of car lengths. The top GT finishers placed ninth and 10th overall.

“This weekend really defines the versatility of the Cayman,” Baldwin said. “I have never really seen a situation where the Cayman wasn’t a great race car, especially the way it is happening in HSR and the Stuttgart Cup. The fact that they moved me up to GT was probably the right thing to do today, and Cody and I had another great battle.”
