Both ED BAUS in the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy 3.6L category (below #52) and newcomer EFRIN CASTRO in his Stuttgart Cup 3.8 liter class Cayman, swept their respective classes on the weekend winning both sprint races and the enduro (below #16).

In the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy 3.8 class, Sandridge won the enduro with Pank winning both sprints. In his series debut, CURT SWEARINGIN from ACI Motorsports (right #1) was on the podium with third place in the sprints and a second place finish in the enduro.

Series Founder, BILL RIDDELL, had a rough start to the weekend with travel difficulties that delayed his arrival to Road Atlanta. Subsequently, he missed qualifying and started in last for the first Sprint race. However, the racing veteran made a strong charge through the field to finish just off the podium.

Bob Akin Award

In addition to the great on-track action, the International GT participants were treated to a wonderful evening at Jerry Peter’s Lucky Dog House, an automobile and memorabilia collection. The evening featured the presentation of the Bob Akin Award, presented by Hudson Historics. JUAN GONZALEZ was the recipient of this prestigious award for his contributions to motorsports and International GT.

Juan enjoyed a great event, winning both Sprint races earlier in the day in the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy 4 liter category.

A host of Georgians and International GT regulars were on hand for Round 2 of the 2018 Championship at Road Atlanta last weekend. Left is JACK GILSDORF #902 who competed in the enduro with son PHIL GILSDORF. Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy 3.8 liter class TED GIOVANIS lower left and CARMINE REPPUCCI #165 below. MIKE DUNN #125 below, ran in Stuttgart Cup in his Cayman GT4. All call Road Atlanta their home track.

All three races on the weekend saw a fantastic three-way battle for overall race honors. STEVE HILL in his Norwood Auto Italia prepared Ferrari 458, MARK SANDRIDGE, in his Porsche 3.8L with the iconic Mobil 1 livery and 2017 Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy champion THOMAS PANK, who’s car is prepped by Georgia based, Ultra Performance (below).

Hill swept the Maranello Cup division, while BARRY FROMBERG had a very strong showing taking second in all of the races on the weekend. Rounding out the podium for Maranello Cup was ROB METKA in a Ferrari 458 (left).
