Experienced Career Motorsports Professional Will Manage All Competition and Technical Operations for Growing Porsche Cayman and Boxster Racing Series
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (January 31, 2014) – Officials of The Stuttgart Cup™ announced today that career motorsports professional Ken Fengler has joined the growing racing series for Porsche Cayman and Boxster competitors as Competition Director.
In his new role, Fengler will manage all competition and technical operations of The Stuttgart Cup™ in addition to the day-to-day administration of the series. Fengler joins The Stuttgart Cup™ after spending the last nine years as Competition Director for Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR).
The Stuttgart Cup™ is sanctioned by HSR and Fengler brings a familiar face in a familiar environment while also providing the series with some new leadership in the important technical, competition and administrative areas. Among his responsibilities will be researching opportunities to expand The Stuttgart Cup’s race schedule to include more events at additional venues affiliated with other racing series.
“I am looking forward to working with everyone involved in The Stuttgart Cup,” Fengler said. “I have seen the series and many of the current competitors racing in HSR and elsewhere for many years. It will be great to join these friends and competitors in a new but still familiar arena while working with all involved to expand The Stuttgart Cup to other racing series and top circuits in North America.”
In addition to being an accomplished and experienced sports car road racing driver, Fengler has organized hundreds of track-day programs for a variety of blue chip clients for nearly 35 years as a driver trainer and motorsports consultant. He also managed for eight years all of Derek Bell’s motorsports programs and later assisted Bell’s son, Justin Bell, as General Manager of the Justin Bell G.T. Racing School.
The Stuttgart Cup™ picks up again February 13 – 16 at the Palm Beach Grand Prix, the first of this year’s final rounds of the inaugural Stuttgart Cup Winter Series. The three opening rounds were held last year at Savannah, Daytona and Sebring with finale slated for The Mitty at Road Atlanta in April.
The Palm Beach race will also be the first time Stuttgart Cup competitors will be competing in HSR’s all-new Global GT division. The new race group, designated Group 10, is home to modern era GT sports cars, like Caymans and Boxsters, as well as recent model Corvettes, Ferraris and Porsche 911 based cars. Both The Stuttgart Cup and the Mission Foods Porsche GT3 Cup will run in HSR Group 10.

About The Stuttgart Cup™ – A sprint and endurance series, The Stuttgart Cup™ is open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, with rules centered on power to weight ratio. All competing cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
