Laguna Seca Race Recap

IGT

Although Saturday was a washout, International GT had great racing on Sunday with two races, an enduro and sprint! Forty7 Motorsports came on board and the Lamborghinis were fast!! Just to make us all feel a bit older…the front row of the grid was a total of 39 years old! JAKE WALKER 18, KEAWN TANDON 21. Keawn #55 won the enduro, while ANDY STROBERT #5 won race 2 in the Exhibition category.

JUAN GONZALEZ #81 who usually passes on the enduro, was game to enter this weekend and he and BUTCH LEITZINGER #81 Car Amigo/Mission Foods, won the GT4.R category. Meanwhile TOMMY BALLESTER #188, Quirt Racing, finished out his California tour with a sweep of the GT3.8 category and continues to lead the points standings in the Mission Foods GT3 Cup.

In the GT4.0 liter category NICK GROOMBRIDGE #76 was supported by Charlie Hayes Racing and swept the category with wins in both the enduro and sprint races. Also with West Coast support was BILL EARON # 95 with Migliore Motrorwerks who stood on the podium for both Sunday races with a couple of seconds.

Stuttgart Cup

Stuttgart Cup was the most populated category in Laguna Seca. Taking off from his Sonoma run, JONATHAN BROWNE # 94, Quirt Racing, won both races at Laguna. Jonathan’s dad, JIM BROWNE #88 was runner up in both and Jim was also recipient of a set of PIRELLI tires. One of our most coveted prize packages. Third in the enduro and sprint was Jonathan’s teammate JAVIER LEOS #20.

Sweeping the Cayman 4.0 liter category was DAVID HAMPTON #14, AR Racing. David doubled down in Trans Am and also swept the weekend in the TA category.
