Lime Rock Jumping

Over the years we’ve grown used to seeing some great ariel shots of STEVE KATZ launching off the downhill bump at Lime Rock, however this year ZACH EHRLICH gave Steve some competition for the best lift off at the famed “bullring” race circuit.

Lime Rock Race Recap

The 1.5 mile tight and technical circuit at Lime Rock always serves up great racing and this year was no exception. With 70% of the field members of the Lime Rock Driving Club, these guys know the track well and use their home field advantage.

Up front there was a fierce battle in the sprint races between JOE VIOLA #262, Corporate Motorsports, ZACH EHRLICH #78, Hudson Historics and ANDRE FERNANDEZ #17, Heinlein Racing Development. Zach and twin brother MAX EHRLICH are grandsons to long-time International GT competitor, PAUL REISMAN and they are really coming into their own as racers. They both thanked uncle JOHN REISMAN for purchasing them new tires for the second sprint race! Joe (one of the aforementioned Lime Rock Driving Club members) had his hands full in the sprint races fending off Zach for the GT4.0 win. He may have had the best quote of the weekend when he said on the podium, “As a 50-something year old, there is nothing worse than having a mirror full of a teenager.”

Rounding out the 4 liter class was CHARLIE CRAIG #114, SpeedSport Tuning who took a pair of third place finishes in the sprint races, suffered a mechanical early in the enduro which ended his race but made for a timely caution and brought into play a bunch of pit stop strategy.

In the GT 3.8 category RUSSELL FARHANG #412 Hudson Historics, won the first sprint and the enduro. While Max Ehrlich won the second sprint race of the weekend #75, Hudson Historics but truly both Max and Zach Ehrilich GT3.8 had only one goal, to beat grandad and uncle John Reisman GT4.0 in the enduro…which they did!

JONATHAN DRAPER #62, Corporate Motorsports had a pair of third place finishes and TODD PAJONAS #806, SpeedSport Tuning was second in sprint race 1.

The GT3.6 category was a battle of friends. STEVE KATZ # 113, Ontrackinsurance.com brought in MICHAL STACH #399 to the race and there was a great battle between the two. Steve took the win in the two sprint races but Michal won the enduro. Michal brought a streamlined crew consisting only of his 6-year-old daughter Scarlett. The go-cart racer, Scarlett did a great job and enjoyed the podium with dad.

In the Cayman category we saw DAVID HAMPTON #14 AR Motorsports again. He has been faithful to the series racing all 5 races this season. It was his first time racing at Lime Rock Park and it was a big learning curve for the IGT/Trans Am competitor. Also racing a Cayman was TORSTON GROSS #HandsOnlyRacing. Torston has quite the fan group at his home track.
