Last weekend’s trip to VIR saw several new entrants for International GT. Reg Williams from Hickory, NC, Danny Marshall of Danville, VA, John Haas from Portsmouth, OH and Larry Ligas of Largo, FL, all finished on the Stuttgart Cup podium. Williams took class and overall victories in GT3.8 sprint races while Maranello Cup driver, Steven Hill in his Ferrari F430 claimed the overall win in the 90 minute enduro to go with his class victories in the two sprint races. Synergy Racing owner and racing veteran Danny Marshall, joined Saturday’s sprint races. The multi-time championship driver brought some very exciting competition to the GT3 Cup class finishing in the top three overall. Stuttgart Cup driver Bill Riddell finished on the top of the Cayman podium for all three races. He was partnered with Larry Ligas, from Predator Performance for the enduro race win.

Quickly becoming a front runner in International GT competition in the GT3.6 category, John Mauro claimed class wins in the sprint races and partnering with co-driver Bryan Lingruen finished second overall in the enduro. Stuttgart Cup GT3.6 welcomed new entrant, John Haas, from Portsmouth, OH, who brought some lively competition to the event. Christopher Haehn in the Axis Roofing entry returned to International GT competition at VIR. Although it wasn’t the smoothest of events for the GT3.8 competitor, the weekend was a success running competitively in the GT3 Cup class with Danny Marshall.

international gt Marenello Cup driver Colin Cohen changed classes for VIR. With his regular Ferrari 355 suffering a mechanical failure at Watkins Glen, Cohen was offered the opportunity to drive a Auto Italia Ferrari 430. It did not take long for Colin to get up to speed with competitive lap times around the rolling hills of Virginia International Raceway. Could there be a change of horses in Colin’s future?

The final podium presentation of the weekend was the Pirelli Tire Award with Maranello Cup driver Steven Hill winning a set of Pirelli PZero race tires.

Next on the International GT schedule is the series’ inaugural visit to NOLA Motorsports Park on October 13-16.
