stuttgart cup riddellAmelia Island, FL – October 25, 2014 – Bill Riddell has emerged victorious in Round Five of The Stuttgart Cup at The Savannah Speed Classic. The 25-minute sprint race was one of the most exciting and memorable events of 2014.

The race was closely contended from lap one as Faver, Riddell and Sales went three wide into turn three. Contact between Sales and Faver allowed Riddell to make a jump to the lead prior to a full course caution. Riddell was able to retain his lead when green flag racing resumed and took the checkered flag to claim his fourth win of the season.

“It was probably one of the most fantastic starts to a race we have ever had,” said Riddell. “It was an incredible start.”

stuttgart cupJoe Sullivan acted as a silent predator during the race,
patiently waiting for his opportunity to put a move on the leaders in his No. 14 Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing Porsche Cayman S. Sullivan’s strategy paid off and he was able to slide by Keith Faver’s No. 25 Gulf Porsche for second place.

“I felt like a lot of drivers got carried away thinking they were going to win the race on the first lap,” said Sullivan. “There was a lot of avoidable damage. Those were young drivers and hopefully they have learned not to try to win on lap one.”

stuttgart cupJim Grey drove a smart and clean race for the podium which rewarded him with a third place finish in his No. 111 Martini Porsche Cayman S.

Riddell’s finish strengthens his championship lead going into tomorrow’s endurance-sprint double header. Both Faver and Sales had their finishing positions penalized for avoidable contact.

The Stuttgart Cup action resumes tomorrow at 9:00 AM with a 50-minute endurance race with one mandatory pit stop.
