stuttgart cup race riddellAmelia Island, FL – October 28, 2014 – Bill Riddell captured his fourth and fifth wins of the 2014 season holding off second place finisher Rodrigo Sales at The Savannah Speed Classic. Joe Sullivan finished third in his Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing Porsche Cayman S.

Starting from second position Bill Riddell took control of the morning endurance race by sticking a pass on pole-sitter Keith Faver and utilizing traffic to his advantage. Faver fought back in his No. 25 Gulf Porsche Cayman S and closely pursued Riddell until seizing his opportunity and passing Riddell back for the lead. Faver’s lead, however, was short lived as a driver miscalculation in turn one rendered his Cayman S unable to continue.

Riddell defended his lead when green flag racing resumed and soared under the checkered flag to claim his fourth win of 2014.

“In this enduro we have seen how technical and difficult this course is to drive at speed,” said Riddell. “Seeing how this track is only used once a year there is a great deal of sand and debris off line. If you get into it, you don’t have a chance. Sadly a few drivers had to experience that today. In our sport it is critical to understand and respect how race craft can come into play at any given moment.”

stuttgart cup car raceRodrigo Sales rebounded from a difficult start and drove a clean race to achieve a second place finish in his No. 88 Jagermeister Porsche Cayman S.

“I got stuck in traffic but the car drove incredibly well thanks to Pulse Racing Service,” said Sales. “We were patient and let the race come to us.”

Joe Sullivan also made his second visit to the podium this weekend and brought home a clean car to capture a third place finish.

“I was being very patient today,” said Sullivan. “I felt good, the car was good. I was fortunate because my competition eliminated themselves and I ended up on the podium again. I enjoyed it, it’s been a great weekend.”

stuttgart cup racingThe Stuttgart Cup was well represented on the overall podium with professional driver team Shane Lewis and Jack Baldwin capturing the overall win in the No. 139 Porsche Cayman S while Bill Riddell claimed third-place overall. Baldwin turned a fast lap of the weekend turning a 1:22.542.

“Thanks to the Racelink team for all their hard work,” said Lewis. “It’s been a great weekend, these guys have the most fun in the paddock.”

Later that afternoon in the final sprint race of the weekend Riddell once again held off Sales, Sullivan and Gray for his third win of the weekend. The results allow Riddell to retain his championship lead with Sales following closely in second.
