Backs Up Friday Night Win With Cayman Championship Points Sprint Victory; Alex Wolenski Earns First Career Win in Boxsters

SEBRING, Florida (December 7, 2013) – Bob Schneider continued his lock on The Stuttgart Cup™ Winter Series competition Saturday at the HSR Sebring Historic Races where he won the first championship points race of the weekend in addition to taking class honors in a one-hour enduro earlier in the day.

Schneider took the lead at the start of this afternoon’s points-paying eight-lap sprint race and withstood a fast closing Bill Riddell for what was his third victory of the Sebring weekend so far. Earlier on Saturday, Schneider also took top Stuttgart Cup honors in a one-hour non-points race. On Friday he finished first in a 90-minute nighttime Enduro.

“This is a tough track and I haven’t had the best of luck here but I have to thank my crew at Competition Source for doing a great job on the car,” said Schneider, who races his white No. 40 Cayman S with the red and blue Martini stripes of the famous “Baby” Porsche 935. “We were just a mess at the beginning but they got it sorted out.”

Riddell, driving his flat-black Porsche 918 inspired No. 05 Cayman S prepared by Racelink, finished second after a pre-race miscue forced him to start last. He never had a chance to challenge Schneider but waged a great battle for runner-up honors with Henry Davis.

“I left my gloves in the trailer, they gave me one minute to go get them but then I had to start in the pits,” Riddell said. “I was basically last but that made it even better because I had to go through a whole bunch of cars to get to Henry. I was chasing him down, he was fighting me, and when I finally got to him he wasn’t going to let me by. I honestly don’t even know where I passed him. It was intense racing, wall-to-wall racing, just incredible. I really want to thank HSR.”

Davis finished third in his white No. 21 Cayman S that is run and prepared by CARS (Classic Auto Restoration Services) of Omaha, Nebraska.

“Well, it’s always a battle with Bill because he is such a great driver,” Davis said. “I also want to thank HSR for putting on another wonderful event and, of course, Bill who has put this whole Stuttgart Cup program together for us to keep a Cayman series going. We all owe him a great deal of thanks.”

A pair of Stuttgart Cup Boxsters also ran in the sprint race with Alex Wolenski taking the victory in the No. 157 Monticello Motor Club/DeMan Motorsport Boxster. He led the similar black Martini Racing-themed No. 101 car of Brian Burry across the finish line.

“It was a great race, my first one, and I want to thank Monticello Motor Club and Ari Strauss for making this happen,” Wolenski said.

The first Stuttgart Cup Cayman across the finish line in Saturday’s sprint was actually the green No. 80 of series professional coach and road racing champion Jack Baldwin who climbed all the way to 11th overall in the field of 30-plus cars. Joining his Stuttgart Cup competitors for their own stand-alone rolling start behind a larger field of faster GT cars, Baldwin – who wasn’t racing for points or Stuttgart Cup honors – likely passed more cars than any other competitor in the eight-lap sprint.

Next up for The Stuttgart Cup™ at the Sebring Historic Races is a non-points sprint race Sunday morning before that afternoon’s featured four-hour enduro race to close out the weekend.
