Amelia Island, FL – November 8, 2014 – There are few things in this world more satisfying than driving a Porsche Cayman S around a race track at the limit. The Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy feels it is important for every driver to have the opportunity to drive to the best of their ability. The Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy brings in professional drivers to act as coaches during race weekends.
Professional drivers Jack Baldwin and Shane Lewis were on-hand at The Savannah Speed Classic driving against and coaching The Stuttgart Cup competitors. Professional coaching enabled The Stuttgart Cup competitors to obtain many personal achievements throughout the race weekend.
Baldwin and Lewis are no strangers to the Porsche Cayman S platform. Baldwin achieved the first ever professional victory in a Porsche Cayman S at the 2012 Long Beach Grand Prix with Pirelli World Challenge. Baldwin has been racing a Porsche Cayman S with GTSport Racing in the GTS Class of the Pirelli World Challenge and has created the most successful Cayman program in the world. Baldwin has achieved seven victories and placed in the top three in the Driver’s Championship since the introduction of GTSport Racing’s Cayman program in 2012.
Lewis claimed the first GX Class Pole Position in a Porsche Cayman S and went on to claim the GX class victory in the 2013 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
“It was great fun driving with Jack and Shane,” said Jim Gray. “They’re both big time pros they really helped me with data analysis and getting around the track a little faster every session. I had a great weekend and they got me to my personal best that is always good. I love having them here it was a lot of fun. They’re great guys.”
During practice sessions the field was able to mix it up with the professional drivers and learn from their lines. After every session the pros were available for data analysis and discussion.
Lewis and Joe Sullivan co-drove a Pro/Am endurance race on Friday, October 24 to a fifth place finish overall in the Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing inspired Porsche Cayman S. On Sunday, October 26 the professional team of Baldwin and Lewis took the grid with The Stuttgart Cup and raced their way to an overall victory in the No. 139 yellow and red Porsche Cayman S in The Hawk Performance endurance race.
“I always look forward to The Stuttgart Cup events,” said Baldwin. “This is a great series. It’s a lot of fun to get out here and race these Porsche Caymans against each other. I want to thank Bill Riddell and Racelink for bringing Shane and I out to these events, they are always a great time.”
Lewis and Baldwin will be present at future The Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy events.
About The Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy:
Both The Stuttgart Cup™ and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo are managed by Americas Cup GT L.L.C. Both championships are sprint and endurance series with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Rules for both series are centered on power to weight ratio. All competing Stuttgart Cup cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
