The Stuttgart Cup™ was recently announced as a new Sprint and Endurance Series for Porsche Caymans and Boxsters to be run in conjunction with Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) events during the 2013 season. The Stuttgart Cup™ will compete at all six (6) HSR events in 2013, as well as two (2) additional races during the summer months of June, July and August.
The inaugural event will run this weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway in Palm Beach, Florida on February 14-17, 2013. The Stuttgart Cup races will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning with a 45-minute enduro Friday night.
“We are thrilled to be working with HSR and have our Stuttgart Cup class included in all six of their events for 2013,” said E. Paul Dickinson, Director of the Stuttgart Cup. “Bill Riddell and I created this Series because we saw there was a need for Cayman and Boxster owners who wanted to race at HSR events. Although we have a limited entry for the first race, we feel confident this class will grow during the season. We plan to have some fun this season and give our Porsche racers a great opportunity to enjoy their race cars and compete against one another.”
Rules for the Stuttgart Cup™ are centered on power to weight ratio. Cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmission with allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Body and engine modifications are designed to encourage all existing race prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete.
The Stuttgart Cup™ race schedule includes the following events:
The Palm Beach Grand Prix HSR, Palm Beach, FL, February 14-17;
The Water Mitty HSR at Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA, April 25-28;
two races TBA in June/July/August;
