The Stuttgart Cup™ points race on Sunday at Palm Beach International Raceway
produced more nose-to-tail racing action during the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR)
Palm Beach Grand Prix weekend.
Mark Sandridge teamed with Joe Varde as his co-driver for the 90-minute Enduro race.
Sandridge, Keith Faver and Bill Riddell raced closely for the first 30-minutes of the
Enduro until Riddell pitted for an adjustment and his mandatory five minute pit stop.
Sandridge and Faver continued to battle on the 2.034-mile, 11-turn road course until their
respective pit stops.
Varde had the lead in the #49 Porsche Cayman, with Faver and Riddell vying for the
victory. With three laps to go and side-by-side action between Varde and Faver, Faver
went off-track in Turn 5 and was unable to get his position back before race end.
Varde/Sandridge came home the victors with Bill Riddell second and Keith Faver third in
the second points race of the 2013 Stuttgart Cup season.
“What a great race we had on Sunday,” said Bill Riddell, Director of the Stuttgart Cup
and Stuttgart Cup Porsche Cayman competitor. “It was a hard-charging race with some
unfortunately results for Keith Faver, but we all enjoyed the racing action and tight
competition.”
Stuttgart Cup Directors E. Paul Dickinson and Bill Riddell hosted approximately
45 people Thursday evening at the Palm Beach International Raceway to introduce
the Stuttgart Cup series to the HSR paddock and Porsche owners. The party created
additional momentum and interest in the new series, scheduled for seven additional races
this season.
The next Stuttgart Cup race will, once again, be held in conjunction with HSR, at the
popular Walter Mitty race at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia on April 25-28.
