Full Weekend of Cayman and Boxster Competition at Sebring International Raceway Features Sunday’s Four-Hour Enduro
SEBRING, Florida (December 3, 2013) – The 2013 part of The Stuttgart Cup™ Winter Series will conclude with the longest race of the championship at this weekend’s Historic SportsCar Racing (HSR) Sebring Historic Races, December 6 – 8, that features Sunday’s Four Hours of Sebring.
The year-end Sebring event is always a favorite on the HSR schedule and a strong field of Porsche Caymans and Boxsters in the Stuttgart Cup™ is entered for the 2013 Florida finale. The Winter Series picks up again in 2014 with the Palm Beach Grand Prix at Palm Beach International Raceway, February 14 – 16, and The Mitty, Road Atlanta, April 25 – 27, 2014.
Among the expected challengers this weekend is Bob Schneider who finished second in last month’s Bob Snodgrass Memorial Enduro at Daytona in his white No. 40 Cayman S that sports the red and blue Martini stripes of the famous “Baby” Porsche 935.
Mark Sandridge, and coach and championship-winning co-driver Joe Varde, are also headed to Sebring where they will co-drive Sandridge’s red and white striped Grandma’s Potato Salad No. 49 Cayman S.
Varde is expected to battle all weekend with fellow pro Jack Baldwin who is back in the green and white striped No. 80 Cayman S modeled after a David Piper Racing Porsche 917K.
Matt Dicken and John Lewis co-drove Dicken’s black and silver No. 207 Cayman S to third place in the Daytona enduro and are set for another full weekend of competition at Sebring.
Bill Riddell picked up Sportsman class honors in the Snodgrass Memorial as well as a pair of sprint-race victories in his No. 05 Cayman S that features a flat-black Porsche 918 Spyder paint scheme. He was joined on the Daytona podium by Racelink teammate and third-place finisher Darrell Fancher who returns for Sebring in his No. 139 Cayman S modeled after the yellow and red “Psychedelic” Porsche 917K.
Debuting Stuttgart Cup competitors include Lori Cassling and Henry Davis who drive Caymans prepared by CARS (Classic Auto Restoration Services), a top race shop out of Omaha, Nebraska.
Cassling made history at Sebring in 2011 as the first woman to podium in a Cayman in competition with a second-place sprint race showing. She drives the popular No. 23 Cayman modeled after the famous “Pink Pig” Porsche 917/20 that she will share with coach and co-driver Chris Hall.
Davis is always a contender in his silver No. 21 Cayman S that carries the colors of the Martini Porsche 917K and LH race cars.
Several Boxster competitors are also entered at Sebring including the black No. 101 of Brian Burry, the red No. 11 of Justin Ehrlich, the black No. 157 of Ari Strauss and the dark blue No. 70 of father-and-son duo Paul and John Reisman.
A sprint and endurance series, The Stuttgart Cup™ is open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, with rules centered on power to weight ratio. All competing cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
