Watkins Glen Much To Offer - Beyond Just Racing
A couple weeks ago we highlighted some of the awesome sights and experiences available in the Watkins Glen area outside of one of the best road racing circuits in the country.
Today we want to remind everyone of the The annual Grand Prix Festival, held on Friday in downtown Watkins Glen, which commemorates the early sports car races that took place on a 6.6-mile course laid out on village streets. A high point of the Festival is the Grand Prix reenactment, with SVRA race cars driving the original Watkins Glen street course to the cheers of 20,000 enthusiastic spectators.
We encourage everyone (drivers, teams, guests, family) to plan and go downtown after our Friday (September 7) Sprint Race 1 and join in the fun, food, displays and festivities. This festival has something for everyone and should not be missed!
Watkins Glen September 4-7 Garages & Event Schedule
Registration is open for the upcoming Watkins Glen race in September. Early entries have been coming in and we expect our strongest field of the year. We’ve had one or two of you daily reach out about garages and we are getting close to full so we’er sending this one more reminder…There are a few garages remaining for rent. Garages can fit 2 race cars (24’x28′) and cost $550 each. If you are interested in a garage contact Kathy@SVRA.com.
Flagtronics Requirement
International GT has partnered with Flagtronics for the best in on-track safety. Starting at the Watkins Glen race in September Flagtronics will be required for all International GT entrants. Testing Watkins Glen and VIR
Extreme Velocity Motorsports has secured test days prior to both the International GT races at Watkins Glen and VIR. Pirelli is the exclusive tire for International GT and must be purchased through Frisby Tires. Click on the Pirelli logo to link to Frisby to order tires.
